Grading for Under 10 Teams
Players will play in Kanga, Wallaby or Joeys teams based on ability, with Kanga teams being for the most able players.

In 2018 two types of grading will be used to grade Kanga level players;all other players will form Wallaby or Joey teams.

1.   Soft Grading - The 2016 U9 Kanga coaches have been asked to recommend players from their 2016 squads to be automatically offered a place in an U10 Kanga team in 2018.  These players have been assessed for suitability to play at Kanga level and they will not need to attend individual trials to apply for a Kanga Team (note however that they will still have to trial if they want to be in the Development Squad). These players will receive email confirmation of this Kanga grading from the Year Level Co-ordinator; and

2.    Hard Grading - All other players wishing to play for a Kanga team (including those who played for Kanga teams in 2016 U9s but were not Soft Graded at Kanga level as set out above) will be assessed individually for suitability to play at Kanga level as part of the Development Squad Trials (details below).

Grading is a voluntary process and players wishing to play for Wallaby or Joey teams need not attend Trials unless they wish to trial for the Development Squad.  Players may:

  • opt to trial for the Development Squad if they have already been soft-graded for a Kanga team;

  • opt to trial for the Development Squad but stay in a non-Kanga team;

  • go to Kanga grading but not trial for the Development Squad; or

  • do both Kanga grading and trial for the Development Squad.

Anyone wanting to take part in Grading or Development Squad Trials must pre-register.Please direct enquiries to your Year Level Coordinator, Liz Mee (email: liz_mee@hotmail.com, Mobile: 0413 422 342)

Grading for Under 11 Teams

Players will play in Kanga, Wallaby or Joeys teams based on ability with Kanga team being for the most able players.

Trials will be held in February2018 to determine eligibility for a Kanga team. The trials will also be used to select the 2018 U11 Development Squad (dates and further details below).

Therefore, if your child:

  • wants to play in a Kanga team in 2018, they MUST attend the trials;

  • wants to play in a Wallaby or Joey team in 2018 and wants to be considered for the Development Squad, they MUST attend the trials.

  • wants to play in a Wallaby or Joey team in 2018 and does not wish to be considered for the Development Squad, there is NO NEED to attend the trials.

The number of Kanga teams for 2018 will depend upon the number of players who are assessed as Kanga standard during the trials (as determined by senior coaches at BSC and independent assessors).

Those players who trial unsuccessfully for a Kanga team will play in a Wallaby or Joey team.

Anyone wanting to take part in Grading/ Development Squad Trials must pre-register.

Please direct enquiries to your Year Level CoordinatorMichael Mack (email: michael.mack@tollgroup.com , Mobile: 0408 677 243).
