Club News Update

Congratulations James York

Brighton Soccer Club is delighted to report that one of its former junior players, 18 year-old James York, recently made his A-League debut for Western United against Western Sydney Wanderers.

James played U8 – U10 at Brighton from 2013 to 2015, playing for the Brighton “Ninjas” Kanga team, and in several Castlefield Cup and Caruana Cup representative teams.

James’ natural talent was always evident - he scored a goal within 10 seconds of the start of his first ever match at Dendy Park – and over the past 11 years he’s combined that talent with an enormous amount of hard work and dedication in order to achieve his dream of playing at the top level.

The Western United website says the following about James: “A technical midfielder, James York won the Under 21’s player of the season award in 2022 and followed that up by breaking into the Under 23’s side and earning involvement in first-team training over the past year.”

We congratulate James on his debut and success to date and look forward to seeing his career go from strength to strength.  He is a great example to, and inspiration for, our current juniors who can all dream of following in James’ footsteps and achieving their own soccer goals.
